Trinasolar Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the 17 SDGs with a Commitment to Global Responsibility and Sustainable Progress
2025.09.05

In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), calling on all nations to take action to foster economic prosperity while safeguarding our planet.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the SDGs, Trinasolar is responding with sustainable solutions designed to achieve outcomes. By supporting rural development and promoting ecological conservation, our solar technologies are enabling communities worldwide to transition toward greater sustainability.

SDG 1: No Poverty —Revitalizing rural economies with solar energy

Trinasolar supports the UN’s goal to end poverty by harnessing clean energy to benefit rural communities.

In 2024, Trinasolar provided Vertex modules and energy storage systems for a 150 MW aquavoltaics that generated 163 million kWh, surpassing projections and delivering stable returns. The project improved water quality, enhanced fisheries, and raised farmers’ incomes, showing that ecological and economic benefits can coexist.

SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy — Making renewable energy accessible to all

Trinasolar supports the UN’s energy access goal by providing efficient and reliable solar solutions for various environments worldwide, promoting the adoption of clean energy.

The 1GW Source- Grid- Load- Storage project

Trinasolar is advancing SDG 7 through the One-Gigawatt Source-Grid-Load-Storage Project, a pioneering model of “Wind-Solar-Storage for Desertification Control” featuring 800 MW of Trinasolar’s Vertex series modules. Operating in one of the world’s most challenging desert landscapes, the project delivers a stable, low‑cost, and sustainable supply of green electricity to meet a wide range of utility needs. By ensuring reliable access to clean energy while restoring degraded land, Trinasolar is demonstrating how renewable power can serve all aspects of daily life and drive both environmental and economic benefits.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production — Pioneering sustainable manufacturing

In alignment with the UN goal to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns, Trinasolar is setting new benchmarks for sustainable manufacturing in the photovoltaic industry. Trinasolar’s production plants globally have been recognized as National Green Factories, while its Yiwu facility has obtained the 2023 Zero-carbon Factory (Type I) Fourstar Certificate in 2024.

Throughout its operations, Trinasolar has made substantial progress in reducing its environmental footprint. Since 2020, the company has achieved significant sustainability gains in module production, reducing greenhouse gas emissions intensity by more than 65%, lowering energy consumption intensity by over 40%, and decreasing water consumption intensity by nearly 68%. These results demonstrate Trinasolar’s commitment to resource efficiency, carbon reduction, and sustainable manufacturing across the solar industry.

SDG 15: Life on Land — Protecting Ecosystems and Restoring Resilience

Supporting the UN goal to protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, Trinasolar integrates ecological stewardship into its renewable energy projects.

On the agricultural land of New Zealand, the Te Herenga o Te Rā project has been deployed alongside measures to protect farmland ecosystems, enabling both livestock and crops to flourish. Beyond electricity generation, Trinasolar invests in reforestation initiatives, such as the creation of the Trina Forest in Spain, to restore habitats and enhance biodiversity.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals — Joining Hands to Advance Global Sustainability

In line with the UN goal to strengthen implementation and revitalize global partnerships for sustainable development, Trinasolar is committed to collaboration across borders and industries. The Company has joined the United Nations Global Compact and the Global Solar Sustainable Alliance (GSSA), working alongside international partners to accelerate the adoption of clean energy solutions.
